Thunder Bay, Ontario
By Peter Moule
In search of red dirt and yellow leaves on the Hurkett Hoedown route near Thunder Bay, Ontario. Active forestry operations are a common sight in Northern Ontario, and the route passes through a number of past and current logging areas like this one.
On a recent weekend, I enjoyed a beautiful ride from Nanterre (next to Paris) to Dieppe in Normandy with my brother-in-law.
I rode out for a weekend camping trip to Surprise Creek from Kowanyama on Friday. During the day out here in the tropics, the Thermometer read up to 40°C (104°F) for an hour. I might have gotten a bit of a heatstroke. After a day of making friends, fishing, lounging about, and spotting a huge crocodile, I decided to beat the heat and leave before the sun got up. Not only was it way cooler, but it is such a beautiful time of the day to be out here.
