The Why El Jefe was released last year as an efficient hardtail for backcountry travel and bikepacking. Logan published an in-depth review here, and summed it up as a bike that, “…thrives when loaded, particularly on singletrack. It does really well on rolling technical singletrack, cross-country trails, and doubletrack. It’s made for going fast; it pedals efficiently and excels at keeping pace. All that said, it’s a backcountry hardtail at heart.” All complete builds are on sale, as is the frame-only option for anyone looking to build up a custom bikepacking rig.

Now in its fourth iteration, the Why Cycles R+ was recently updated with more tire clearance, a few fresh specs, and Why’s new carbon gravel fork. It’s a multi-purpose gravel bike designed to be comfortable on long rides but fast enough to keep up when things get lively. Complete builds aren’t on sale, but you can save $500 on frame/fork if you’re looking to build one up from scratch.
