Wilde Bikes out of Minneapolis just announced a new model they say is built for a singular reason: fun. With a looptail design, clearance for massive 26″ tires, and canti studs, it’s an intriguing design that is sure to pique some niche interest. Dive into all the details of their new Moto Cruiser below…
The Wilde Bikes Moto Cruiser is a fresh model that the brand says is designed solely for fun. Built around 26-inch wheels and rim brakes, the Moto Cruiser is said to be good for anything from errands around town, pump track runs, dumb stunts, or daily wanderings.
Designer Jeff Frane said, “I’ve been dreaming of this one for a long time. It’s a nod to so many things I love. The klunkers of the mountain bike pioneers, the untouchable cool of a Cook 3 Bar cruiser, and of course my own beloved 1×1 which has been my main city bike for over a decade. This was a project from the heart. The looptail, big tire clearance, classic silhouette, derailleur capable horizontal dropouts, and the ability to choose from decades of available used parts, updated with stealth dropper routing and a more progressive geo for maximum playfulness.”
The frame features canti studs and bottle mounts on the down tube for small and medium sizes, with another on the seat tube for large and extra large sizes. The Cruiser also sports stealth dropper routing, three pack mounts on the underside of the downtube, modular cable guides, and clearance for 26 x 2.5″ tires. It has 135mm spacing, a 31.6mm seatpost, a 73mm English threaded bottom bracket shell, and an 1 1/8″ steerer. The Moto Cruiser is made of Wilde’s Double Tuff double-butted chromoly steel, which the brand says is neither particularly light nor compliant, adding, “It’s robust and fairly stiff. It’s a full-strength MTB, and the tubing is appropriate for the use case.”
