The Wolf Tooth T47 external bottom bracket is the newest addition to the brand’s growing lineup of bottom bracket offerings. Available in three spindle widths and four colors, these USA-made bottom brackets feature some interesting internal designs…
Wolf Tooth T47 external bottom bracket is an expansion of their recently released lineup of BBs. Using the same great technology available in their BSA and internal T47 BBs, the Wolf Tooth T47 external bottom brackets are engineered to be durable, reliable, lightweight, and smooth, featuring seals in the spindle, bearing gutters, bearing inner and outer races, shells, and end caps. The bottom brackets are also designed to minimize creaking, with spindle bushings separating the bearing inner race and crank spindle, which eliminates metal-on-metal contact. Like most Wolf Tooth components, the new bottom brackets are rebuildable and have replacement parts and service guides via their Right to Repair program.
The bearings in Wolf Tooth Bottom Brackets are also said to be different from other BBs. The balls and race are made from hardened chrome bearing steel, which has a higher surface hardness than stainless steel, and Wolf Tooth claims this improves the durability of bearing races and reduces spinning resistance and noise. An ACOSUR ZNA coating has also been applied to the race to provide corrosion resistance.
The new external T47 bottom brackets are available in three different spindle widths—24mm, 29mm, and 30mm—and four colors: raw silver, ultraviolet purple, orange, and black. They retail for $140, are made in Minnesota, and can be purchased directly from Wolf Tooth or any available stockist. For more, visit WolfToothComponents.com
