Florida-based Zpacks just announced the DupleXL, which takes all the features from their popular Duplex tent and scales them up to create a shelter with an eight-foot useable floor length. Check it out here…

Designed for tall users, the new Zpacks DupleXL takes the design and features from their two-person Duplex shelter that we reviewed here and makes them bigger. The DupleXL boasts an eight-foot (2.4m) usable floor length that’s perfect for users up to 7’0″ tall. It sets up using two trekking poles (adjusted to around 48″) or can be used with fixed poles. There are a total of four storm doors that can be kept closed to keep weather out or left open on clear, warm nights. The overhead tarp overhangs the bathtub floor by about 4-5″, which helps keep rain out of the tent even with a door open.

There are two internal mesh pockets located by each door, an internal bug screen between the floor and the walls and at each end of the shelter, and the floor is a rectangular 44 inches wide by eight feet long (114cm x 2.4m), allowing for plenty of space for two taller people to stretch out or a ton of room for one taller person plus gear. Depending on the canopy fabric choice (either .55 oz/sqyd or .75 oz/sqyd Dyneema Composite), the DupleXL costs $699 or $749 USD. It is offered in six different colours and requires eight stakes for a proper pitch (not included).
