In our latest trip report video, Neil shares a peek at a fun overnighter at Hartman Rocks near Gunnison, Colorado. Home to incredible protruding rock formations scattered throughout a sea of sage, Hartman Rocks Recreation Area features 45 miles of singletrack trails and as many miles of dirt roads, making it a cyclist’s playground. Plus, with dispersed camping and 50 established campsites, it’s a fantastic place to spend a night under the stars. Watch the video below and scroll down to learn more about the route.
It’s the perfect escape outside of Gunnison where you feel entirely immersed in nature while still being relatively close to town.

The Hartman Rocks Overnighter is a scenic 30-mile high desert loop in Colorado’s Gunnison Basin. The ride offers beautiful vistas, meandering roads, and unique flora, all rolled into a beginner-friendly package that’s perfect for a quick escape from the town of Gunnison.
