Tom Hardie traveled from the UK to east-central Africa to participate in the 2023 Race Around Rwanda this year, where he had a chance to sit down with local racers Dufitumukiza Mussa and Neza Violette. Earlier this month, heavy rain and long stretches of bike-destroying mud made for harsh conditions at the 2023 Pinyons and Pines event in Arizona. Last summer, Bjørn Olson and Kim McNett loaded up their fat bikes and packrafts for a 10-day journey along a stretch of Alaska’s remote Seward Peninsula. The trip had them pedaling up rugged mountains, traversing narrow bits of coast, encountering grizzlies, braving intense storms, and connecting with people in isolated villages.
