When we were deciding on our route onwards from Las Vegas, Nevada, we knew we couldn’t leave the United States without seeing the majestic Grand Canyon. So, before making a beeline south to Victoria’s home turf in Mexico, we set our sights east. We managed to piece together a route that involved some questionable little roads which, spoiler alert, caused us some real headaches later on!

Our route took us via Temple Bar on Lake Mead with a stopover at Grand Canyon West and a brief stint on Route 66 to soak up our last drops of American culture while we still could. After that, we set off north, cruising through cattle country as we approached the Grand Canyon. It was around this time that Victoria faced her toughest challenge yet after falling ill on day two of our longest wilderness stretch of the section. See more in the video below.
