John & Mira: Bikepacking in the Canadian Rockies (Video)

Everyone’s favorite dogpacking team, John and Mira, recently got out on a three-day bikepacking trip in the Canadian Rockies. Watch the 28-minute video John put together from their trip here, complete with vibrant fall colours and crisp, clean air…

Autumn in Alberta arrives with a kind of wild grace—a brief, golden pause before the long northern winter. In Bikepacking With My Dog In The Spectacular Canadian Rockies, Mira and I ride deep into the foothills and front range of the Canadian Rockies, capturing that fleeting magic when the light softens, the aspens turn to fire, and the trails seem to hum with life.

The film threads together moments that define why we ride: a spontaneous encounter with a cattle drive — nearly a hundred cows, working dogs, and cowboys moving through open country; quiet camps beside cold, clear streams; and the long, meditative climb toward the alpine on the new Xtracycle that carries both man and dog across rugged terrain. Through it all, the bond between John and Mira is at the heart of the story — a portrait of trust, rhythm, and shared wonder in motion.

More than a local overnighter, this ride is a reminder to look closer at what’s nearby—to notice the seasons changing, to chase the tones of the seasonal light, and to embrace the simple joy of moving through wild places with your best companion by your side.
