A Line in the Sand is a new short from Sony Alpha Films that follows photographer Chris Burkard and his team (Emily Batty, Eric Batty, and Adam Morka) on a bikepacking trip across the interior of Iceland. Their 975-kilometer route, which we’ll be sharing here on the site, tied together as many of the most remote stretches of road they could find to complete their traverse from Dalatangi in the east to Bjargtangar in the west. This elegantly shot film captures the ride, its many unique challenges, and the perspectives of all the riders involved. Watch it below.
“Look at where you are. Freeze that moment in time. Take that picture. Put it somewhere in your brain, and remember that.”
You can find a behind the scenes look at this trip in the upcoming fifth issue of The Bikepacking Journal, which will be shipping to our Bikepacking Collective members soon and will include an interview with Chris, Emily, Eric, and Adam, paired with a stunning set of images shot during their trip.
