The highly anticipated Silk Road Mountain Race was certainly the first of its kind. It is a fixed route, unsupported, single-stage cycling race through the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, a part of the world that was unfamiliar to most of the participants, and will remain so for over half of the riders who did not finish. Wild Horses follows a few of these brave souls as they tackle some of the most remote and challenging terrain in the world. Watch the full video below, along with a few stills that caught our eye.
For details on the route, check out the Silk Road Mountain Race website or head over to our Tian Shan Traverse route, which the race follows closely. And check out our Reader’s Rig feature Max Burgess’ custom Lisiecki all-roader that he had built for last year’s race. The 2019 Silk Road Mountain Race is scheduled for August 17th, and is now listed on our events calendar. Check that out here.
