In November 2024, ultra-endurance athlete Jack Thompson started his fastest known time (FKT) attempt on the 1,067-kilometer Munda Biddi Trail at the northern terminus of the route in Mundaring, Australia, just east of Perth. After just 2 days, 12 hours, and 15 minutes, Jack set a new record time on the route and shaved an impressive five hours off the previous record set by fellow Perth rider Craig Wiggins in 2020. Munda Biddi Dreaming is a new film that shares his story and FKT experience. Watch it below:
Here’s what Jack had to say about his ride:
“The weather couldn’t have been more challenging. With the hottest November temperatures on record, I set off in 40°C heat and battled the elements for 60 hours. There were snakes, kangaroos, wild dogs, spiders, bushfires, and 80 kilometre-per-hour headwinds. With just 17 minutes of sleep, I made it in one piece and managed to shave five hours off the existing record. Following the record itself, I visited roughly 5,000 children at schools along the trail in the remote South West to talk about the power of dreaming and the importance of exercise, particularly cycling, on their mental health.” —Jack Thompson
