Almost five decades since he built his first mountain bike, Tom Ritchey is returning to his workshop! Launching at the 2024 MADE show in Portland, Oregon, under the moniker of Mountain Bikes by Tom, he is accepting orders for his coveted Bullmoose bars and bi-plane forks for owners of his original Mountain Bikes by Ritchey frames.
“I’ve been witnessing this for years — where people don’t have the fork or bar that was designed to go with their Ritchey frame, and they’re scrounging around for them. I started seeing replacement parts for my frames that were missing details. They were made by others, and they weren’t doing them right. Now, after all these years I’m helping these fans do it right,” said Tom Ritchey.
According to Ritchey, in the early days of Mountain Bikes by Ritchey, every bike sold with forks and handlebars designed specifically for off-road terrain. Demand grew quickly, and Tom wasn’t able to keep up with production. Now, 45 years later, Tom Ritchey is making steel forks and optional Bullmoose handlebars to complete bikes that didn’t come stocked with them.
For a limited time, owners of any fillet-brazed Ritchey or Mountain Bike by Ritchey frame made between 1979-1982 can pre-order either a clamp or quill fork and an original Bullmoose handlebar to complete their frame with genuine parts made by Tom Ritchey.
To submit your request for a steel fork, Bullmoose bar, or both, Tom has set up an online form where he will analyze photos of your frame to be sure it is a candidate. If approved, you will receive an email with a link to purchase fork or fork and Bullmoose bar. Forks and bars will be produced and shipped within 6-8 weeks of order date. Submit your request and learn more here.
