The 2024 Concours de Machines took place in the stunning Hautes-Pyrénées from June 25th to the 30th, challenging participants to create an all-terrain bike designed to explore remote mountains and capture the story of the journey. This year’s theme emphasized the importance of returning with a travel diary filled with memories and stories, all while navigating the terrain with just a paper map. The contest placed special emphasis on eco-friendly design, innovative homemade suspension systems, integrated carrying solutions, tools built into the bike, lightweight mudguards, and train-friendly dimensions.

In a nod to the event’s origins in the 1902 Concours de Machines, this year’s competition also celebrated cycling heritage. A total of 17 machines hit the trail and were displayed in the historic abbey church of the Abbaye de l’Escaladieu, offering an inspiring backdrop to showcase the skills of dedicated craftspeople in the cycling industry alongside the Cycle Craft Show.
