Basajaun is the self-supported, long-distance gravel event on the edge of Basque Country, in the north of Spain.
Basajaun alongside with Badlands is the ultimate unassisted gravel event in Europe. The terrain, scenery, and atmosphere would be changing all along giving a variety from a nice mixture of green mountains (including the French side of the Pyrenees), huge forests, and finally to a majestic desert areas and empty mountains.
All in a route of 760km and +15,000m.
Basajaun is ‘the Lord of the Forest’ A mythological guardian of the most virgin and remote forests. Protector of the flocks. Share history with other mythological characters from other cultures such as ogres, trolls, and yet.
The name was chosen because it keeps the essence of this route, combining the values of ‘the protector’ of the environment with the aridest lands a few kilometers from it.
