As part of Kona’s 2022 rollout, the popular Kona Honzo line got a major geometry update, new build kits, and fresh paint. Check out the details here…

The Kona Honzo lineup is positioned as a super-capable 29er hardtail mountain bike, made for those that prefer the simplicity of a hardtail but want to ride it like a bigger bike. This time last year Kona introduced the Honzo ESD, an ultra-slack steel version to the lineup, for those really looking to push the bigger bike aspect. For 2022, the Honzo line includes the ESD, the aluminum Honzo DL, and the standard Honzo, plus a steel Honzo ST frame-only option. While the Honzo ESD just get paint scheme and build kit updates, the aluminum Honzos receive a completely updated geometry. Find a quick breakdown of what’s new below.

2022 Kona Honzo DL

The Honzo DL is the most rowdy aluminum hardtail in Kona’s lineup. It’s been updated for 2022 with a slacker 66° head tube angle, 76° seat tube angle, and a beefier 140mm travel fork. It also has a shorter seat tube for longer travel dropper posts and comes with chunky Maxxis Minion and Dissector rubber. The Kona Honzo DL retails for $2,399 USD and is available as a frame-only for $499 USD. Learn more at KonaWorld.com.

2022 Kona Honzo

The more affordable Kona Honzo also receives geometry updates, but not quite as extreme as the Honzo DL. It has a less slack front end and seat tube angle, longer chainstays, and is based around a 120mm travel fork, instead of 140mm. The 2022 Kona Honzo retails for $1,699 USD. With a 150mm travel Marzocchi Bomber Z1 fork, four piston brakes, and grippy Maxxis tires—it’s pretty clear that the Honzo ESD wants to be pointed downhill and go fast.
