Several new 2022 shoes launched and caught our attention today. Read on for details below…
Leatt MTB Trail Shoe 6.0
Leatt just announced their 2022 trail lineup, which includes new apparel, helmets, and some trail shoes. The new MTB Trail Shoe 6.0 departs from their heavier-hitting offerings with its lightweight construction and breathable exterior. At first glance, it appears to have all the makings for a solid warm-weather bikepacking shoe.
The Leatt MTB Trail Shoe 6.0 has a long cleat channel for easier pedal setup, a breathable membrane for warm weather riding, and reinforcements in high-wear areas. It uses Leatt’s RideGrip sole with a fairly chunky tread pattern that Leatt says provides great grip on and off the bike. It has a single BOA-style closure and an EVA midsole for shock absorption.
The Leatt MTB Trail Shoe 6.0 weighs 920 grams (size 9.5), comes in US sizes 6-12, ships in plastic-free recyclable packaging, and retails for $149.99 USD. You have your choice of three colours: Black, Malbec, or Desert.

Northwave 2022 Shoes
As part of its summer 2022 release, Northwave just added three fresh off-road cycling shoes to their lineup. While each model caters to different styles of riding, they’re all specced with grippy Vibram soles that appear to be suitable for bikepacking (and the inevitable hike-a-bike it entails). Check out all three below.
Northwave Overland Plus
The Overland Plus is a clipless shoe that Northwave claims offers “unparalleled grip on wet and dry surfaces.” It has a shock-absorbing EVA midsole, TPU reinforcements in high wear areas, and a dual closure that combines a large velcro strap with Northwave’s BOA-like SLW3 dial. Northwave offers them in sizes 37-48 and in a black or blue/yellow colorway. They retail for €149.99 (~$180 USD). Check them out here.
The Rockit is another new clipless option that features a simple lace-up closure and chunky tread design with large lugs that resemble those found on hiking shoes. Like the Overland Plus, the Rockit is reinforced in high-abrasion areas and uses a ripstop exterior for increased durability. They retail for €119.99 (~$146 USD) and come in black or green. Check them out here.
The Multicross features the same tread as the Overland Plus but is a flat shoe. Northwave claims the design offers solid grip on a wide range of surfaces and the laced closure wraps the user’s foot for a comfortable fit. Northwave offers the Multicross shoe in black or green and they retail for €109.99 (~$133 USD). Learn more here.
