As part of the 2024 Swift Campout, we teamed up with the Swift Industries to host and jury a short video contest through which one lucky winner would receive a grand prize package worth more than $3,000 with goodies from Wilde Bikes, Swift, Rapha, Ombraz, Feathered Friends, Wild Rye, Ripton, Heather’s Choice, Austere Manufacturing, BIKEPACKING.com, and Ride with GPS. The votes have been tallied, and the winner is Haetam Attamimy of Indonesia, whose name you may recognize from his excellent Wheels to Waves video we featured this spring. Read a little about Haetam’s trip and watch his winning submission below.
Pedaling out of the city of Mataram on Indonesia’s beautiful Lombok island, Haetam and friends Tusan, Opick, Nabil, Yudhis, Dimas, Marco, and Wandi embraced the 2024 Swift Campout challenge by taking on a 75-kilometer ride that incorporated a stop at a river in the middle of the forest and a serene stretch of beach. They set out early to avoid the searching midday heat in search of good times and adventure.
The group rode through already rising morning temperatures until they found some relief amid the crisp, fresh air of the Sesaot forest park, which is known for its many freshwater springs coming down from Mt. Rinjani. They enjoyed a varied network of tree-lined dirt roads until reaching the Aik Nyet River, where they took a dip and a short nap before continuing on toward their evening’s destination.
Riding north, Haetam and company made their way to Lendang Luar Beach, which they’d been eager to camp on for some time, thinking it held potential to be an ideal spot to spend a night. They arrive around 5 p.m., set up their tents straight away, and settled in to enjoy a stunning Lombok sunset (they really are something special!). Reflecting on the trip, Haetam said it was yet another reminder of the immense beauty at his doorstep and why he doesn’t feel the need to head elsewhere anytime soon.
Congratulations, Haetam! Thanks for sharing your Swift Campout with us. Stay tuned for a look at a handful of runners up later this week.
