The new Spruce Hoody from Canada’s 7mesh is a versatile layer that features a full-length zip, an elastic waist and cuffs, a semi-snug hood, and a ventilating fabric optimized for shoulder-season riding. Get to know the new 7mesh Spruce Hoody here…
The team at 7mesh in British Columbia recently launched a pair of fresh mid-weight layers designed to keep riders comfortable during off-season exploits, both constructed with their new Wind Thermal Ventilation (WTV) 200 fabric, which features a stretch-woven exterior that creates a breathable wind barrier and a brushed loft interior that delivers extra warmth. It really works. I’ve been wearing the 7mesh Spruce Hoody daily around Colorado this fall, and it’s quickly become my go-to for cool days on the bike and around town. They also announced announced the Spruce Jacket, which packs in the same technology and features in a streamlined (and in my opinion, less functional) package without the hood.
The 7mesh Spruce Hoody hits the sweet spot for warmth, weight, and breathability as a versatile top for wearing on its own when it’s warm or as part of a layering strategy on chilly days. Tipping the scales 390 grams in size medium, it packs easily into a handlebar bag and punches above its weight in terms of coziness in mixed weather. It has a full-length zip for on-the-go venting, elastic cuffs, a useful low-profile hood, zippered hand pockets with super soft lining, a fleece chin guard, and an elastic waist. Note that the waist isn’t adjustable; my size large fits me perfectly at 6’2″ and around 165 pounds, but the lack of adjustability at the waist could be an issue for some wearers.
The full retail price is $180, but you can pick up a 7mesh Spruce Hoody on sale today for $144 USD. It’s available in three colors (Bamboo, Raisin, and Black) in men’s styles and two colors in women’s styles (Bamboo and Black). Both men’s and women’s sizes range from XS to XXL. The Spruce Hoody is constructed from 92% Recycled Polyester and 8% Elastane.
