Last month, Austin Killips set off an individual time trial (ITT) on the Tour Divide route between Banff, Canada, and the US/Mexico border at Antelope Wells, New Mexico. Her ride came to an early end after veering off-route near Butte, Montana, but we had a feeling she’d be back for more. On July 24th, Austin started a second attempt at the route with a goal of finishing in under 13 days.

Earlier this morning, Austin finished her 2,700-mile ride with an unofficial time of 14 days, 23 hours, and 12 minutes, besting the women’s record by over 17 hours, held since 2015 by Lael Wilcox, who completed it in 15 days, 10 hours, and 59 minutes during an FKT ride back in August that year. Although the time/record attempt has yet to be verified, this is an astounding accomplishment on so many levels. Congrats, Austin! What a ride.
