Badlands is shaping up to be one of the most popular ultra-endurance events in the world. The organizers received more than 1,500 applications for this year’s event and had only 350 spots for riders. The 780-kilometer route travels across the only official deserts in Europe, the wild coast of Cabo de Gata, and the highest Col in the continent, Pico Veleta at 3,396 meters.

This year’s riders had to overcome storms in the Gorafe Desert, huge temperature swings, rough terrain, and long stretches without resupply. Rob Britton set a record time of just 1 day, 14 hours, 20 minutes, and Cynthia Frazier set a new women’s record time of 1 day, 21 hours, and 34 minutes. The organizers just released the official event film that you can watch below, followed by a few stunning photos from the route.
