It’s been about a month since we launched the new Bikepacking Collective Basecamp and Bike Camp Co-op buy/sell feature, and the listings just keep coming. Browse some of the most intriguing recent listings of bikepacking bags and bikes here…
Last month, we finally rolled out the Bikepacking Collective Basecamp, a web-based application with three new modules: Ride Rendezvous, Ask the Experts, and the Bike Camp Co-op. All member levels get access to the features, but there are some partial limitations for supporter-level members, which you can learn about here.
The Bike Camp Co-op has caught on, and folks are listing all kinds of awesome new and gently used bikes and gear items daily. The Co-op is a great place to check if you’re on the hunt for some cheap bikepacking bags or a new bike, where folks are sharing all kinds of deals with fellow community members. We highlighted some of the latest frames and complete bikes earlier this month, and we’re back with another roundup of items that caught our eye.
Ortlieb Fork Packs
New bikepacking bag listings are being listed just as fast as they’re selling, which is awesome to see. Up first is a pair of virtually new Ortlieb Fork Packs, complete with the quick-release brackets and all mounting hardware. These are great bags for anyone trying to add some extra capacity to their setup. You can read Neil’s review here to learn more about them, and $80 for the pair is a great deal.
Surly Bridge Club (Small)
Ah, the Surly Bridge Club. The people’s bikepacking bike! Kris B is selling a complete size small with a custom Rogue Panda frame bag for just $750, which would make an awesome setup for anyone looking to get into bikepacking. It has mostly stock parts and can be delivered around Austin, Texas, for free. Although the post is a little old, you can read Cass’ thoughts on the Bridge Club here.
Tanglefoot Hardtack (Large)
When Joe reviewed the Tanglefoot Hardtack, he described it as a “simple, reliable, great-performing bike especially suited to dirt roads shading into crumbly doubletrack and singletrack.” Darren C. is selling complete size large build California, kitted out with a SRAM NX Eagle drivetrain, BB7 brakes, Ritchey WCS Corralitto bars, and more. It’s a pretty good deal for $1,500 and looks ready to rip.
PEdALED Odyssey Handlebar Bag
For anyone piecing together an affordable bikepacking kit, Lucas’s PEdALED Odyssey Handlebar Bag looks like a great option. The kit includes a harness and a 7.5L drybag with an air-purge valve, and the $50 price tag includes shipping in the Lower 48. This is the beginning of someone’s first bikepacking kit!
Nordest Sardinha frameset (ML)
Looking to kickstart your very own dream build? This size ML Nordest Sardinha frameset includes an additional $750 in parts, and everything, including the frameset, is brand new! Don is asking $950 for the whole lot and is offering to deliver in Seattle or meet along the WA/OR/CA I-5 corridor. If you haven’t seen it already, make sure to check out Logan’s review here.
Road Runner Wedge Mountain Bike Full Frame Bag
I might be biased, but I’ve been using this same frame bag for over four years now, and it just refuses to give up. The Road Runner Wedge Mountain Bike Full Frame Bag is handmade in the US, retails for $150, and although this one is used, it looks like it has plenty of life left. Scott is asking $90 and is located in Utah.
Transition TransAm (Large)
If you’ve already got a fork and dropper post waiting for a home, then this partially built Transition TransAm could be your ticket to rowdy singletrack good times. For $700, you can get yourself a large frame, a custom DIY frame bag, SRAM powermeter cranks, a Chromag stem, Thomson seatpost clamp, and Cane Creek Hellbender 70 headset.
2023 Why Cycles R+ (XL)
Quinn in California is selling what looks like a smokin’ deal on a size XL 2023 Why Cycles R+ frameset. For $2,000, you get a titanium gravel frame, an Enve Gravel Carbon fork, and a Cane Creek 40 headset, ready for all of your summer gravel dreams.
Acorn Rando Bags
Acorn Bags are handmade in Southern California from high-quality cotton canvas and cost $120+ new, making these used Acorn Rando Bags a steal. Kris in Austin, Texas, is selling a Small Rando Bag for $40 and a standard Rando Bag for just $25. These bags won’t last long!
Vassago Bandersnatch (Large)
Chip in Oregon just listed a complete size large Vassago Bandersnatch hardtail for $400! We’ll let Chip explain what makes this bike special: “It’s hard to part my trusty hardtail that’s taken me to some wonderful places throughout the West but it now has a younger and prettier replacement. Time to put it out there for someone else needing a comfortable and affordable bikepacking rig.” It’s an older frame with some well-loved parts, but we’re willing to bet it has plenty of life left in it.
