A few weeks ago, Chris Wilson set out on Washington’s Goat Mountain Gusto overnighter with a Tenkara rod and his trail bike. This was Chris’s second time riding the route and he made this nice video along the way…

On July 3rd of this year, Chris Wilson went on a ride based on the Goat Mountain Gusto overnighter route in Washington state. Equipped with a new Tenkara rod to try his luck at Deadman Lake, he set out for a solo overnighter. With the extreme heat in the Pacific Northwest, road closures forced Chris to reroute to the Green Creek Trailhead instead of the Goat Mountain Trailhead, but he was still able to ride most of the route. Watch his video here and scroll down to learn more about the route.

When I think about my ideal bikepacking trip, this route checks a lot of the boxes…

Goat Mountain Gusto VideoWhile the Goat Mountain Gusto requires you to harness your inner goat, if you’ve got the legs and the commitment, this trail system is a must-do for Pacific Northwest riding. Boasting 37 miles of flowy singletrack with loads of natural features, it makes a challenging overnighter or great weekender trip with a lot of small loop options depending on your level of fitness.
