When most people think of Norway, the iconic fjords with their towering cliffs plunging into deep waters are likely the first images that come to mind. However, Norway is riddled with gravel roads that are perfect for bike travel. Of Milk and Navvies connects two of Norway’s most celebrated gravel cycling routes: the Mjølkevegen (the Milk Road) and the Rallarvegen (the Navvies Road). In his latest video, Josh Reid and and a riding buddy set out on this route and mention that it’s some of the best gravel riding they’ve done. Watch it below, and find more about the route further down.

Both the Mjølkevegen and the Rallarvegen are often hailed as “Norway’s most beautiful cycling route,” as they each offer excellent riding that showcases the country’s breathtaking landscapes. This 383-kilometer (238-mile) route takes riders through the country’s high plateaus, lush valleys, miles of gravel roads, mountain passes, and summer cattle pastures, all the while connecting with the rich history of the Bergen to Oslo railway. The route concludes at one of Norway’s longest fjords, stretching over 200 kilometers, the perfect place to complete the journey. Find the full route guide here.
