Congratulations to Cara Dixon, the first woman and seventh overall to finish the 2024 Badlands race. Cara completed the challenging 791-kilometer route in 2 days, 1 hour, and 24 minutes, and according to her tracker data, she only stopped for a little over one hour during the entire race—a mind-boggling stat considering the challenging conditions and 15,000+ meters of elevation gain riders faced this year.
Cara stayed with the pointy end of the race straight from the start, finishing with a solid five-hour lead ahead of Svenja Betz, the second woman to complete the race. Cara posted an Instagram story just eight kilometers from the finish showing what appeared to be a bad puncture, with tire sealant oozing onto the ground, but it seems that didn’t hold her up for long.
Cara is no stranger to ultra-endurance events, having finished in 10th place overall (second place for the women) at the 2023 Badlands event as well as fourth overall (first woman) at the 2023 TransAtlantic Way race. We’re excited to see what she takes on next. Until then, congrats to everyone who has finished the race so far, and good luck to those still out riding.
