Crust’s new Evasion Trail 140 takes design inspiration from Honda’s iconic Trail 90 and 110 motorbikes while adapting their signature frame to a slightly less aggressive end. For more on the Crust Evasion Trail 140, read on…
Inspired by the Honda Trail 90 and 110 aka “postie bike,” the new Crust Evasion Trail 140 is a slight change to their iconic Evasion frame. Fans of Crust will be more than familiar with Matt’s affinity for motorbikes but also his desire to make bikes more suited to folks on the shorter end of the spectrum. As Crust owners Matt and Cheech are both on the smaller side, Matt has always spoken to a willingness to build bikes around something the 26″ wheel size. With the Evasion Trail 140, that’s exactly what they’ve done!
While the geometry of the Evasion Trail 140 is largely unchanged from that of its non-step-thru counterpart, per Crust, the alteration in design makes the frame more amenable to flat or alt bar setups. The Evasion Trail 140 is also based around Boost spacing at both the front and rear, with a 26 x 3.0″ tire being the ideal; you don’t see that everyday!

Matt did an entire build and write up on his own Evasion Trail 140, albeit in a different color, on the Crust blog. In it, he talks about his love for the motorbike, the inspired push-bike design, and sums the comparison between the two up by saying, “Now, is it as amazingly good looking as the Honda trail 90? Well that is a matter of opinion I guess, but my opinion would be a no. Does it come with a rip ya arms off 7 HP? Well, no. It’s called the Evasion trail 140 because I average a piss weak 140 watts and its power is all up to the pilot.”
I’m a big fan of everyone at Crust and have a deep admiration for their desire to create offerings for a distinctly underserved portion of the bike market. In trying to address my own blind spots in bike knowledge, considerations for anyone under 5’5″ are always something more of us in the industry need to be conscious of. The Crust team is putting their money where their mouth is with the Evasion Trail 140, and I can only applaud that effort.
