Quietly released on Friday afternoon, Crust announced two new flat handlebars designed in conjunction with Nitto. The Shrike and Blitz bars both come in silver and black, feature clamp diameters of 26.0 or 31.8mm, and are made in Japan from heat-treated aluminum. Let’s dive into the specifics of each bar below.

Named after Garrett of Crust’s favorite bird, the Shrike is a riser-style bar with 15 degrees of backsweep, 10 degrees of upsweep, and 50mm of rise. According to his description, “This bar has a good amount of back and upsweep, but not so much backsweep that it feels too mellow or cruiser-y; it stays in the ‘trail/mountain’ handlebar category in my brain. It’s a good one for that bike in your life with not much or not enough stack that you want to bump the bars up a bit higher without having to run a bunch of spacers or a weird stem.” The bars have a claimed weight of 380-431 grams depending on the clamp diameter, are 720mm or 800mm wide, and retail for $123.

Per Crust, the Blitz bars are good if “you’re looking for a swoopy, townie-tour-y style bar with a nice middle-of-the-road backsweep for supple wrists or to bring your controls back towards you a bit.” Similar to their Juan Martin bar, the Blitz bar features no rise or upsweep, but has 45° of backsweep. They go on to say, “[The bars] don’t have the large flat area up front specifically for hanging a handlebar bag off of like the Juan, but it does have more grip area to mount controls, or bells, or bongs, or reflective triangles, or a small chihuahua or whatever. It will also still work fine with a big bag, just not as well as a bar like the Juan.” The Blitz bars are 720mm wide at in 26mm diameter and 800mm in 31.8mm, have an outer diameter of 22.2mm, weigh between 390 and 458 grams depending on the clamp diameter, and retail for $123.
