Our friends at Curve just posted an update on their Titanosaur, a 36er gravel bike designed for the Australian Outback, tall people, and apparently, those with some patience…

When Melbourne’s Curve first announced the Titanosaur a little over a year ago—a prototype rig made for tall people featuring 36″ wheels and loads of mounts—they secretly hoped no one would want to buy one. However, according to their recent blog update, that’s not the case, and the project is moving forward.

In summary, Curve’s (very tall) founder Jesse Carlsson has been riding the hell out of the Titanosaur and loves it, as many of you have likely seen on their social media. It sounds like it’s been enough of a success that they ultimately plan on making it available in small numbers. However, there are a few road blocks. One, the pandemic has slowed down the process of getting it ready for production, including lab testing, prototyping, etc.

Carlsson confirms, “We need to make sure this bike, in its final form, will support significantly more weight than our current models.” Second, there’s only one 36er tire available on the market, the Vee Rubber 36” T-Monster,” and while it does the job, it is a long way away from a modern MTB tyre in terms of quality,” states Carlsson. It’s also heavy, so one of the next steps is to try a carbon rim with titanium spokes to reduce the overall rolling weight.

So, how long until the Titanosaur is a reality? It could be a year, or years, it sounds like. For the full article, head over to CurveCycling.com. And if you’re interested in the Titanosaur, leave them a comment.
