The new X-Mid Pro 2+ brings together Durston’s offset X-Mid Geometry, a lightweight Dyneema construction, and an oversized two-person design for what they claim is the “world’s lightest tent that can accommodate two wide rectangular sleeping pads.” Just like the original X-Mid Pro we reviewed, the X-Mid Pro 2+ is a shelter that relies on two trekking poles (or optional segmented poles) and can be pitched using as few as four stakes. It has two zippered doors, two peak vents, lots of extra guy line points, and magnetic door toggles. Due to its offset design, there is more interior headspace compared to other trekking pole tents, and the doorways aren’t obstructed by the poles, making it easier to exit and enter.
The Durston X-Mid Pro 2+ is about 6″ wider and 3″ taller than the standard version. There is also a little less rotation on the ridgeline so headroom is improved on the lower side, making it easier for two people to sleep in the same direction. Aside from that, all of Durston’s Pro tents are getting some updates for 2024 including the option to choose between a woven or DCF floor.
