In episode three of the “Edge vs. Everyone” podcast, host Conor Barry sits down with rookie finisher Josh Hicks to talk about his singlespeed ride at the 2025 Colorado Trail Race. Watch and listen to the interview here…

For 2025, the Colorado Trail Race (CTR) ran from Durango to Denver, following a challenging 540-mile route through the Rocky Mountains. Although it alternates directions, every year over 300 miles of the route are on singletrack at elevations ranging from 5,500 to an oxygen-starved 13,200 feet. At times, the route delivers stunning views, pretty flowers, and perfect weather, but all that can change in an instant when traveling at elevation through the mountains. The Colorado Trail is no walk in the park, though most riders end up walking at some point.

In December, Biker’s Edge, a bike shop in Kaysville, Utah, started the Edge vs. Everyone podcast. In the latest episode, host Conor Barry brings on his neighbor, Josh Hicks, to chat about all things Colorado Trail Race. At last year’s event, Josh was 17th overall to finish and the seventh singlespeeder, completing his race in 6 days and 12 hours. Over 70 riders started in Durango, and nearly half scratched from the race, enshrining the CTR as one of the most demanding bikepacking events.

You can find the first two Edge vs. Everyone episodes on YouTube or wherever you listen to podcasts.
