The new Fox 34 SL is a cross-country mountain bike fork that looks perfectly suitable for bikepackers. With a full 34 chassis, increased travel up to 130mm, and low weight, the 34 SL looks like a promising short-travel suspension fork. Check it out here…
The latest addition to the Fox SL cross-country suspension ecosystem creates one of the lightest overall fork, shock, and dropper post systems available. Paired with the Float SL and Transfer SL, the all-new Fox 34 SL fork is, as the brand puts it, “designed to match the increasing demands of short-travel riders.”

The 34 SL features a non-step-cast, full-width 34 chassis that increases air volume and allows riders to choose from 110mm, 120mm, or 130mm of travel without compromising weight. It has a redesigned arch and crown, which increases torsional stiffness by 17% over the previous 34 SC while also increasing tire clearance. The 34 SL delivers enhanced smoothness thanks to 20% more bushing overlap than the 34 SC, and the GRIP SL damper optimizes pedal-to-bump efficiency. The 130mm model is available with the GRIP X damper for even more trail-forward capability.
The 34 SL weighs in at just 1,475 grams (29″ 130mm GRIP SL), which is 40 grams lighter than its closest competitor. The fork can be paired with Fox’s Twin Stick Lever to quickly adjust 2- and 3-position suspension lockout systems and can be set up for fork-only, shock-only, or fork and shock simultaneously. The Fox 34 SL costs between $649 and $1,099 USD, depending on the model, and the Twin Stick lever will set you back an additional $149 USD.
