“G-Line Winter Adventures” is a new video from Brompton Bicycles about three friends exploring the unpaved paths near their homes in Germany. As something of a useful look at how their G-line of bikes can be used, this distinctly German tour is a glance at what bikes should always center around: fun. Watch it here…
Last year, Brompton announced their “gravel-specific” line of folding bikes with the G-line. Featuring a slightly larger wheel size to accommodate larger rubber, a beefed-up frame design, and all the same great packable tech we’ve come to expect from Brompton, the G-line all but begged to be taken on an off-road tour. In G-Line Winter Adventures, that’s exactly what the brand does.
In their second Brompton-oriented adventure, this group of German cyclists took to the unpaved paths just outside Cologne to get a better idea of what interesting things could be found in their own backyards. Prior to the G-Line Winter Adventures trip, the same crew of friends took regular Bromptons around the north of Germany to connect their hometowns. Being experienced Brompton tourers, they took to slightly rockier terrain as this trip ventured through river and forest paths, a cave system, and a rainy night before heading back to Cologne via train.
Though the video undoubtedly serves as an organic product-centric display, it’s nonetheless a well-shot, fun, and intriguing look at what a mini weekend tour looks like in Germany. As an American, I ogled at the ample public transportation, inexplicable absence of lifted trucks, and a general sense of tranquility as the three friends ambled their way through the German countryside. While I have my own reservations about touring on a 20″ wheel bike, there’s nothing more fun that hitting the road with a few pals just to see what’s out there. That’s what this video imbues while also displaying the evident benefit of the G-Line for people who need an incredibly practical machine to also be very compact.
