Giro just added a fresh high-performance trail flat pedal shoe to their lineup. The Giro Latch features a new vibration dampening Mute midsole and an all-new tread compound and design they claim offers better grip and durability. Find details here…
The Giro Latch shoe aims to set a new standard for trail mountain biking flat pedal shoes with an all-new design that Giro claims provides a superior connection to the pedals. The Latch has an all-new low-stack fit that brings the foot closer to the pedal and flattens the sole profile, optimizing the contact patch between sole and pedal. Giro also formulated a new tread compound called Tack Rubber, a highly elastic compound they assert combines the best possible grip with excellent durability in a new Gamma tread pattern.
The other major upgrade is what Giro calls Mute Foam, a midsole foam that’s engineered to have a slow-rebound action to eliminate trail chatter and vibration, and help keep you connected to the pedal over ruts, roots, rocks, and other trail chunder. All told, Giro claims that “The unique combination of fit, a fast-drying microfiber upper, the grip of Tack Rubber, and the damping of Mute Foam makes Latch a new benchmark in flat-pedal performance.”
The Latch features a fast-drying microfiber upper with a Rockprint reinforced toe for abrasion resistance and durability. The shoe is a little bit lighter than other Giro models, with a claimed weight of 334 grams for the men’s size 43 and 300 grams for the women’s 39.
The Giro Latch comes in both men’s and women’s versions. Men’s come in Black/Spark, Black/Dark Shadow, Dark Shadow, or Trail Green in sizes 38-50 for $150. And women’s Latch is available at the same price in sizes 36-43 in Black, Dark Shadow/Sandstone, or Harbor Blue/Sandstone. The Giro Latch flat pedal shoe is available now from Giro retailers and will be available soon on Giro.com.
