After much anticipation and a handful of sneak peeks here on the site, Berlin-based innovators Tine of Gramm Tourpacking and Flo of Allygn Components/Fern Bicycles just formally launched their new collaborative Gramm x Allygn Micro Panniers. This all-new fork-mounted cargo system offers a combined six liters of low-profile storage. Their joint design draws on the custom front racks Flo offers through Fern Bicycles but in a readymade, more accessible format that includes a petite pair of Gramm Micro Panniers that securely snap into place via FIDLOCK magnets.
Describing the new Micro Panniers, they wrote, “Blending touring practicality with ultralight bikepacking sensibilities, the unique low-profile design enables all kinds adventures without weighing riders down. The compact system hugs the fork so the bike rides almost like unloaded, and the three-point magnetic attachment holds rattle-free over any terrain for complete peace of mind.” The bags and cages are sold in pairs (one bike’s worth) and are available now in X-Pac RX36 Black, Ultra 200 X Black Magic, and UltraGrid fabrics. Regardless of fabric, all bags feature a light-colored nylon ripstop liner and an internal divider made from durable ECOPAK UltraStretch. They measure 130-180mm x 250-300mm x 60-70mm (W x H x D) and weigh 485 to 550 grams per pair, depending on fabric.
As with everything we’ve seen from Gramm and Allygn, the new Micro Panniers are packed with clever, user-friendly features. In addition to the instant, secure connection afforded by the FIDLOCK SNAP magnets, the bags use a pull-to-open Loxx fastener, providing redundant security and rapid release. They have a semi-rigid structure to facilitate easy packing on and off the bike, and unlike dry bags, they maintain their sleek silhouette regardless of contents. Durable zippers enable one-handed access to items on the go. The lightweight racks attach to any three-bolt cargo fork and double as minimal standalone carriers using optional straps. A pair of Micro Racks weighs 240 grams.
The Micro Panniers are sewn in Portugal, and the Micro Racks are welded in Taiwan. Prices range from €289 to €309 for a set of bags/racks, depending on fabric. Find full details and buy a set over at Gramm-Tourpacking.com.
