The GranGuanche Audax Trail is an 800-kilometer trail ride across the Canary Islands. It’s a self-supported, single-stage, fixed-route ride and follows the classic rules and principles of ultra-cycling races. But, in the spirit of Audax, participants are allowed to ride in a group and draft each other. It’s not a race, it’s a collective adventure and a challenge to finish the route. There’s no cut-off time, no prizes, no medals, no brevet cards, and no finisher diplomas. The Audax is focused on the experience rather than the final results.
No strangers to ultra-endurance rides, Josh Ibbett and Sofiane Sehili both participated in the inaugural 2021 event, finishing the event together in 88 hours and 40 minutes in 6th and 7th place. The fastest riders finished in under 70 hours, and the slowest took nearly 170 hours to finish the route. As usual, Josh and Sofiane shot footage during the event.
