The new Hunt 40 Carbon Gravel Dynamo Wheels can fit up to 2.3″ tires, come equipped with a SON 28 dynamo hub, and use their new H_Cyclo recyclable resin technology. Find all the details here…
H_Cyclo is a new technology being used by Hunt Wheels that allows thermoset carbon fiber materials used in bicycle rims to be recycled. While traditional carbon manufacturing requires layers of carbon fiber pre-preg with epoxy resin in a mold, H_Cyclo uses a recyclable resin, allowing manufacturers to use existing molds and processes. Originally developed for recycling large wind turbines, they use heat and agitation to separate the carbon fiber and resin, allowing both components to be reused.
Hunt is taking on the responsibility of ensuring their H_Cyclo products are recycled at the end of their life by collecting the rims free of charge. This also applies to rims damaged in accidents or crashes. According to Hunt, the H_Cyclo process doesn’t compromise the integrity or strength of their wheels. They are launching the series with two wheelsets, the 40 Carbon Gravel Race Wheels and the 40 Carbon Gravel Dynamo Wheels. Find details on the latter below.
Hunt 40 Carbon Gravel Dynamo Wheels
The Hunt 40 Carbon Gravel Dynamo Wheelset features a carbon rim using the H_Cyclo process, Hunt’s H_Ratchet 40T rear hub, and a high-quality SON 28 Dynamo front hub. The wheels have a 40mm deep rim for aero efficiency and a 25mm internal width that works best with 35 to 50mm tires but can also accommodate up to 60mm tires. They are made with 28 J-bend spokes and brass spoke nipples, and they’re tubeless compatible.
Like most of Hunt’s offerings, the 40 Carbon Gravel Dynamo Wheels are available with your choice of freehub, a 12x100mm thru-axle or 9x100mm quick-release front axle, and 12mm, 10mm, or 9mm rear axles. The wheels come pre-installed with tubeless tape, and Hunt also includes a cassette spacer, two spade connectors for the dynamo hub, tubeless valves, spare spokes and spoke nipples, and a quality control card signed by your wheel builder.
The complete wheelset weighs 1,834 grams (64.7 ounces) and costs $1,799 USD. A front wheel only costs $1,169, and the rear wheel costs $989. Learn more at HuntBikeWheels.com.
