Melbourne’s MAPP and London’s QUOC announced the first in a limited run of collaborations this morning. The new MAAP x QUOC Gran Tourer XCs are a restyled interpretation of QUOC’s flagship off-road performance shoe. Take a look here…

MAAP, the cycling apparel brand out of Melbourne, Australia, has teamed up with British cycling footwear brand QUOC on a series of limited collaborations. The first release is a MAAP-styled version of QUOC’s top-end Gran Tour XC shoe offered in a limited Fog colorway designed to complement MAAP’s Alt_Road apparel range. The collaborative shoe features several distinguishing touches that set it apart from the original, including an Alt_Road webbing pull tab on the heel, a lightweight ribbed TPU tongue, and larger ventilation holes.

I recently took a pair to Arizona for a week of riding around the Sonoran Desert, where the Gran Tourer XCs—the latest version of which have become one of my favorite shoes in the two years since their release—offered their usual superb comfort and clipped-in stiffness for long days of pedaling. The off-white color won’t be for everyone, but I find the neutral base with pops of purple and green work well together, and they nicely took on some patina from the desert.

My pair in size EU 47 weighs in at 858 grams with Shimano SPD cleats installed, and they feature the same QUOC Dual Dial closure system, padded heel cushioning, gusseted tongue, stiff carbon composite outsole, TPU tread and replaceable TPU spikes, and abrasion-resistant microfiber body with rubber toe cap as the originals, adding up to a feature-packed shoe that’s proven itself on many long rides. Unsurprisingly, all that tech and MAAP styling comes at a hefty cost. The MAAP x QUOC Gran Tourer XCs are priced at $330 (£250/€295/$480 AUD), which is undeniably expensive for a pair of cycling shoes but only a $20 upcharge over the standard Gran Tourer XCs.

You can head over to QUOC and MAAP to learn more or buy a pair. The new shoes are also available at MAAP LaBs and select MAAP and QUOC retailers worldwide.
