*Since posting we learned that Miron did receive outside support in the form of a wheel delivery during his ride but he spoke with the organizers and understands his finish will be marked with an asterisk. Miron is focused on the Vermont Bike Shop flood relief fundraiser and his effort is tremendously impressive either way.

The Vermont Super 8 is a self-supported bikepacking adventure following unmaintained roads, pathways, and singletrack. There are three routes choose from: the 280-mile North Lobe, the 375-mile South Lobe, or the 655-mile Full 8. This year, there were 45 riders registered for live tracking, 19 of whom were signed up for the full 655-mile route.

Miron Golfman finished the Full 8 yesterday morning in a staggering 4 days, 2 hours, and 15 minutes. Anyone who followed along will know his ride was anything but smooth. In the first 120-miles Miron, managed to crack his rim, and he started having derailleur issues during the first evening and walked through the night with a broken derailleur and spoke. By Saturday morning, he had already logged four flats and another cracked rim, forcing him to bike more than 100 miles with a wheel strapped to his back. This has got to be one of the wildest 655-miles Miron has ever ridden.

He rolled into Montpelier, Vermont, yesterday morning, taking first place at this year’s event. Miron was followed by Cameron Russell 22 hours later and Jay Rogan a few hours after that. Logan Kasper’s 2021 individual time trial time of 2 days, 23 hours, 16 minutes still stands as the overall course record. Congrats, Miron!

As part of his ride, Miron is raising funds for Vermont Bicycle Shop after the historic flooding Vermont faced in July. The shop suffered significant damage and loss estimated at around $200,000. Miron has helped a dedicated group of volunteers raise more than $24,000 for the shop and they have goal to reach $50,000. Learn more and make a donation here.
