Our friends Kate and Andrew just shared the news that they’re putting Mulberry Gap Adventure Base Camp on the market and looking for the right buyer to continue its legacy as a premier hub for bikepacking and mountain biking in the Southeastern United States. Read on for details…

If you’re a regular reader or a bikepacker who lives in the Southeast, you are undoubtedly familiar with Mulberry Gap, an adventure hub in the mountains of northern Georgia. And if you’ve been there, you know what a special place it is. Not only is it an excellent basecamp for bikepacking and mountain biking in the North Georgia mountains, but it’s also the beginning and end point for two segments of the Eastern Divide Trail, and it’s a key stop on the TNGA (Trans North Georgia), one of the premier bikepacking events on the East Coast.

2021 TNGA Report, Mulberry Gap

For over a decade, Kate and Andrew Gates (and family) have been the hardworking proprietors behind this destination, and pillars of the bikepacking community as a result. Now they’ve decided to move on, and they made the announcement that the business and beautiful property is up for sale. That being said, they don’t want to sell it to just anyone; they’re looking for the right buyer, and we hope to see someone step in to carry on the tradition, particularly as it pertains to bikepacking and the routes and events that are among its legacy. Read what Kate and Andrew had to say in their announcement on social media below, and scroll to the bottom to find links to more details.

“We have some big news to share!

As many of you know, Andrew and I have grown alongside this business for most of our young adult life. We’ve had some incredible opportunities and have met the most amazing people and community, but we’re ready for the next adventure in our journey together.

We are selling Mulberry Gap and hope to pass the torch to someone who shares a similar vision and wants to carry it on and grow it in their own ways. We believe that person can be found within our circle and are reaching out to you to aid us in that process.”

If you know someone who may be interested in running Mulberry Gap in a similar fashion, or you want to learn more about this opportunity, you can find their full FAQ and all the details here.
