Club de Exploradores is a free, bilingual outreach program invites middle school-aged students from the Latinx/Hispanic community of Transylvania County and surrounding areas to join Latin American outdoor leaders on monthly, all-day adventures in Pisgah National Forest. This program was born out of the need to address the imbalance of who is enjoying and benefiting from living next to public lands like the Pisgah National Forest. The program grew from 12 participants in their 2022 pilot year to 21 in its second year by highlighting the power of representation and belonging in the outdoors.
