Available in nearly a dozen colors, the new PAUL BËP Handlebar Plugs are an absurdly over-engineered option for folks who take finishing touches just a little too seriously. Milled in California to higher-than-necessary tolerances, the BËP Handlebar Plugs are made from 6061 aluminum and weigh in at a mere 22 grams per pair. The PAUL team originally thought to name them “Atomic Wedgies” because they’re snug as hell once properly tightened, and they say they’ll never fall out or come loose thanks to the expanding aluminum wedge.
At $65.50 per pair, they’re far from cheap, but they look great, offer a little reminder to “have a nice ride,” and just might offer the finishing touch for your latest build. I installed the BËPs on my Brother Mr Wooden a week or two back, and I’m impressed by their super low-profile design and how firmly they fit with just a couple of turns of an Allen wrench. They’re a far more considered option than the plastic plugs they replaced. PAUL calls them the “highest-quality handlebar plugs in the world,” and I can’t argue with that. Nitto plugs are still great for folks who want something a little more elevated on a more modest budget, but these set a new standard in quality, even if the function of a handlebar plug is realistically very limited.
