Portland Design Works just launched a fresh alternative to the Wald basket, the new PDW Timber to Town ZigZag Basket, which is available in two sizes and two colors. Learn more about the sturdy stainless steel baskets and matching Loot Bags here…

Thoughtfully curated to “enrich a life lived by bike,” the latest addition of Portland Design Works’ growing Timber to Town collection is the ZigZag Basket, a stainless steel Wald alternative that comes in black and silver finishes in two sizes to suit all kinds of front racks and bike colors. It weighs around 2.4 pounds (1,088 grams), and the medium and large versions measure 15 x 10 x 5″ (38 x 25.4 x 12.7cm) and 18 x 13 x 6″ (45.7 x 33 x 15.2cm), respectively.

As with nearly all wire baskets, the ZigZag is designed to be zip tied to your rack and doesn’t include any specific mounting hardware. At $59 and $69 in medium and large, pricing is higher than offerings from Wald but on par with the newly released Manivelle basket we shared earlier this year. The ZigZag looks to be a sturdy, well-made option for basketpacking and commuting alike, and we hope to test one out and report back soon.

Accompanying the new baskets, Portland Design Works is also selling a couple of simple and economical basket bags, the Loot Bags, which feature a water-resistant design, 100% recycled EcoPak fabric construction, zip closure, shoulder strap, padded bottom, and bright inner liner. There are two sizes that match the medium and large ZigZags (or Wald 137 and Wald 139 baskets) with a capacity of 25 and 40 liters. They’re priced at $95 and $110 and only available in black.

You can head to your local shop or RidePDW.com to learn more or order a basket or bag for your bike.
