I’ve written that Randi Jo Fabrications makes the best cycling caps in the world in a few posts on the site over the years, and the Oregon-based team just added another reason why that remains true with the release of their latest product, the Desert Cap. Listening to requests from their customers, the small family-run team in Oregon added sun coverage to their existing linen caps to develop the new offering. The caps have a perfect medium weight and hold up well to years of wearing. Plus, linen is the ideal fabric for warm to hot and humid weather since it absorbs perspiration and odor, similar to wool.
Randi Jo’s linen caps are made with classic four-panel proportions and slightly wider-than-standard brims. The Desert Caps add a nine-inch rear flap that shields riders from the sun, and they look damn good doing so. They’re made from 100% linen with 100% cotton twill tape finish and have an elasticized rear for a snug fit. The first batch of Desert Caps was offered in Pistachio and Cider in sizes medium, large, and extra large to fit head circumferences from 22 to 25 inches. The $45 caps sold out in short order, but Randi Jo will be making more soon, and you can sign up to be on the notification list on their site once they’re ready.
