Rapha is seeking inspiring stories about lives lived by bike, and they’ve just launched the Rapha Film Fund to provide a $25,000 grant and mentorship/coaching support to one new pedal-powered film that fits the theme. They’re inviting anyone in the United States with a captivating idea and access to a friend, family member, or hero who could be the subject of the brand’s next short film to apply. The final product will be documentary up to 15 minutes in length that will premiere on the Rapha YouTube channel at the end of this year.

“Some of our best films were formed outside Rapha walls, ideas brought to us from people and places beyond the reach of our own radius. Our goal has always been to tell authentic, inspiring stories that celebrate cycling with character,” wrote the team at Rapha, who will work alongside the selected filmmaker to help further their capabilities and experience in filmmaking and storytelling.

Using the form on Rapha’s site, all that’s needed for the initial application is a one-sentence version of your idea, a one-paragraph synopsis, and a creative statement about why you think your story and method exemplify “life by bike.” Following the April 4th submission deadline, a jury will review applications and select five shortlisted applicants to submit a more detailed pitch in May. Rapha is especially welcoming of submissions from groups who are underrepresented in the film industry.
