At the MADE handmade bike show last fall, RatKing Frames owner Smith Levi mentioned that small-batch frames were on the way, and we’ve been looking forward to seeing what he was cooking up ever since. Today, as a collaboration with Back Alley Bike Repair in Seattle, the new RatKing Lost Highway marks the beginning of small-batch, limited edition frames from the Washington-based framebuilder.

According to RatKing, the Lost Highway is a “union of urban waits and multi-terrain, backcountry wanderlust.” It blends RatKing’s passion for design and fabrication with Back Alley’s experience with high-performance bicycles, resulting in what they describes as a “seriously fun bike” that’s handmade in Seattle in small batches.

The RatKing Lost Highway is a steel gravel bike featuring a mix of Columbus Zona, Life, and 4130 tubes. It’s designed to feel zippy and responsive on pavement without sacrificing durability and comfort on rougher terrain. The frame has clearance for 27.5 x 2.3″/700 x 50mm tires and is paired with an ENVE Adventure fork for a lightweight but planted ride feel. The Lost Highway is finished with a PNW-inspired Cascading Golden Hour paint job with a raw steel logo treatment that will allow each frame to develop a unique patina.
