RatKing, owned by Smith Levi, just unveiled a fresh logo, released some new merch, and opened pre-orders for RIP Racks and handlebar cradles. Get all the details here…
Smith Levi, the mastermind behind RatKing, is responsible for some of the best bike accessories in the biz. Not only did Smith design the original T-Rack (now made by Tumbleweed), but he also created the basket-friendly RIP rack and RatKing Cradle. He’s also the maker of my beloved extra-long titanium spoon.
Smith let us know that RatKing recently received a little rebrand, and he updated the downtube logo text on his frames and worked with some talented artists on a fresh merch lineup. The new logos are designed by Eric Marshall. The two bikes pictured are made by Smith, and they are up for grabs. The black one is a 54cm track bike, and the brown one is a 56cm ATB Full Monty.
New RatKing-branded sweatshirts and high-visibility safety vests are available for pre-order. The window will run for a few weeks, and orders are expected ship out in early March. These feature art from Kelly Bjork, Moss, and Omar Ogues. Pre-orders are also open for the latest run of RatKing RIP Racks and RatKing Cradles, featuring a mildly revised stem and platform design. These will be a rolling pre-order and will ship mid to late spring.
RatKing also launched a Solidarity Pricing model this year, which remains in effect. In short, it’s a tiered pricing model that can support both RatKing customers and RatKing itself, and enable product donations, for example. The first tier (Supported) covers materials and labor. The second tier (Middle) is the most sustainable option to cover Smith’s living wage. The third tier (Supporting) is a generous option to help sustain this pricing model and enables future donations from RatKing.
