Our friends over at the Keep Pedalling bike shop sent over this photoset of a Rohloff-equipped Surly Lowside they built up specifically for the rugged dirt roads in the Peaks District.

For those unfamiliar, Keep Pedalling (@keep_pedalling) is a small bike shop in England’s Manchester City Centre. They specialize in utility and adventure bikes, and particularly interesting custom builds. Their latest creation was assembled for a customer who simply loves the old school singlespeed vibes of the Lowside, but living on the edge of the Peak district wanted some gears so he could actually ‘ride’ the bike. “He wanted a bike that he felt he could just jump on anytime and pretty much do anything with, dirt trails, riding with the kids, hooning around in the woods, the odd overnight and maybe longer trips in the future. He liked the idea that the Rohloff is super relible and low maintainence plus would give him the gears he wanted with no fuss. He says we got it spot on,” added Shona Oldfield, co-owner of the shop.
