In his latest YouTube video, Ronnie Romance proudly displays a 1991 Klein Pinnacle dubbed, “Ron’s Travel Bike.” Throughout the video, Ronnie speaks to his experience using the small-wheel, fat-tire Klein during a recent trip to Italy. Along with the build, the alt-cycling media mogul offers tips and tricks for getting the most out of your travel bike setup, bag updates, and other intriguing pieces of information…

A question I’ve often thought about when presented with the idea of a mini-velo is whether it’s really worth it. Sure, you have the ease of traveling with a bike that can fit in a small, bike-specific case, but with ever-shifting airline bag standards and the reality that you’re ultimately riding a mini-velo wherever you touch down, the hassle sometimes associated with full-sized bikes is something I tend to overlook when traveling to ride. Alas, with his lifetime of experience, Ronnie Romance provides a viable travel bike solution! Using a 1991 Klein Pinnacle dubbed “Ron’s Travel Bike,” Mr. Romance’s latest YouTube vidya details a recent venture to Italy using the smaller wheel diameter bike as his “fat-tire road bike.”

In addition to a breakdown of the build and his travel procedure, Ron updates us with some news about the manufacture of his bags; it’s not good, as they likely won’t be available until the spring. He also gives thoughts on repurposing vintage mountain bikes as smaller, fat tire “road bikes.” I’m a big fan of Ron and his videos as they’re a distinct departure from the rest of the fodder YouTube seems intent on feeding me. They’re not edited for engagement, and watching his videos often feels like a warm, weighted blanket. He puts time, energy, and effort into the shots, and it shows. They feel eerily reminiscent of a Robert Eggers film.
