Salsa Cycles unveils more of their 2019 lineup. New builds include a suspension fork equipped Cutthroat, a wide trail green Fargo, a watermelon pink Timberjack, and more…
Following a fat bike release back in August, Salsa just announced full details on the model lines for eight of its bikes. Here is each with a few details, photos, and links.
2019 Salsa JOURNEYMAN
Timberjack NX Eagle 27.5+ (orange/$1,899), Timberjack SLX 27.5+ (olive green or pink/$1,499), Timberjack Deore 27.5+ (red or dark teal/$1,199)
Current models that were introduced in March 2018 continue, but Salsa adds a new $1399 Apex 1 drop bar build for both the 700c and 650b wheel/tire size. Learn more here
2019 Salsa VAYA

Vaya receives a big upgrade with the addition of the new Waxwing carbon fork. The Waxwing fork features side-mounted Three-Pack mounts, low rider mounts, and internal dynamo wire routing. 2019 Salsa MARRAKESH
Full-On World Touring Bike
Marrakesh has all the bits necessary for a long bike tour: a rear rack, kickstand plate, spare spoke holder, and a heavy-duty frameset designed to ride well when loaded down with panniers. The 2019 Marrakesh is available in two colors as a complete for $1,499. Both feature a rear rack, Shimano Deore 3×9 drivetrain, Maxxis Roamer 700 x 42mm tires, and Cowchipper handlebars. It’s also available as a frameset in black for $799. Learn more here.
2019 Salsa FARGO
Classic Drop Bar 29er
Fargo goes wide trail with 29 x 2.6” tires. As I mentioned in my Timberjack Ti build, I’ve been especially impressed with this tire size for both trail riding and dirt road touring. It offers a great blend of rollover, traction, and bump absorption, all the while maintaining a manageable size for speed and handling. The 2019 Fargo also gets the new Firestarter 110 fork, which now has boost spacing, dual sets of Three-Pack mounts on each fork leg, low rider mounts, and internal dynamo hub wire routing. The 2019 Salsa Fargo is available with an Apex drivetrain for $2,499 (dark green) or a Tiagra 2x for $1,999 (orange or blue). Both feature Woodchipper handlebars and Maxxis Ikon 2.6″ tires. 2019 Salsa CUTTHROAT
Tour Divide Race Bike
The 2019 Cutthroat gets an all new build kit making four complete models. Salsa claims the new front-suspension version was inspired by engineer Sean Mailen’s excellent Cutthroat ride in the 2017 Trans North Georgia. The 2019 Salsa Cutthroat Apex 1 SUS gets Maxxis Ikon 2.2 tires, Cowchipper handlebars, and a RockShox Reba RL 100mm fork for $2,899. Other models include the teal/sunrise fade Cutthroat Force 1 for $4,499, the red/blue Rival 1 for $3,499, and the black Apex 1 model for $2,699. It’s also available as a frameset in black for $1,999.
