The Sierra Recycler is a one-of-a-kind creation from Mone Bikes, Paul Components, Sierra Nevada, and others, and you could win this green machine by making a $5 donation to Outdoor Alliance’s non-profit conservation work. For the sixth year running, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. asked Chico, California-based Paul Component Engineering to help them organize a one-of-a-kind bike to display at the Sea Otter Classic event and then raffle off to raise funds in support of a non-profit group. With sustainability and the cycling industry’s impact on the environment in mind, they dreamed up something unique this year, which they’re calling the Sierra Recycler.

Paul contacted Cjell at Mone Bikes in New Mexico to ask if he’d chip in by donating one of his signature Schwinn cruiser MTB conversions as the base for the build, and he agreed straight away. Cjell knew he had exactly the right frame for it, a 1949 Schwinn cruiser that he chopped, bent, mitered, and welded to create a retrofuturist reinterpretation with disc brakes and clearance for 29 x 2.6″ knobby tires.

With the frame completed, Paul enlisted the help of some of their favorite environmentally minded bike brands to contribute parts for the complete build, and the result is nothing short of spectacular. The Sierra Recycler features recycled rubber grips by Björn Bikes; recycled aluminum components by Velocity, White Industries, and Paul; a Jen Green headtube badge made from leftover scrap metal; an old B72 saddle chassis that was re-upholstered by Jerry Smith; and custom bags from Outer Shell that were upcycled out of an old Sierra Nevada billboard.
